The former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, had no difficulty beating his only opponent, Nikki Haley, former governor of South Carolina, with around 30% of the votes, according to the American press.
With his victory over Nikki Haley, Republican Donald Trump consolidated his favoritism in the opposition towards the White House, where he must face President Joe Biden, candidate for re-election.
The path to the White House came after Trump won in a big way in the state of Iowa, where he won 51% of the votes, literally leaving behind the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, who obtained just 21% of the votes.
The result makes a new dispute between the former president and current president Joe Biden in the presidential elections in November even more likely, repeating the 2020 White House race.
The next stage of the dispute will be in Nevada, where Trump is favorite to win his third victory in a row. Next, it will be time for the primaries in Haley's state, South Carolina, where polls place the former president with around 30 percentage points ahead of the former governor.
Primaries take place in all 50 US states. This time, however, it is possible that the Republican candidacy will already be defined by April.
